Night Skies

Thanks to The Telegraph for the photograph.

one day the sun grew greed
blotting out our world
in light beyond the need
the men cried loudly “No!”
the fields all have weed
the women yelled “Help!”
the rivers do not bleed
filled with dry clay, no way to seed
the children each exclaimed
their joys were all but gone
“No longer can we romp and play
in soft the moonlights”
the sun heard these things
and still shined strong
believing they would grow to love
they all prayed to the moon
for the savior they so needed
the moon thought long
and told the sun that she
she shone brighter than he
and in a red rage the sun
began to chase the moon eternal
